Ref: http://in.news.yahoo.com/20/20100507/1416/tnl-peon-s-daughter-makes-it-to-ias_1.html Chandigarh, May 07 (PTI) Sandeep Kaur, the daughter of a peon from Morinda in Punjab, has made it to the IAS. Sandeep is the eldest of her three siblings and attributes her success to her father employed in Morinda sub-tehsil. Citing her father as her immense source of inspiration behind her success, Sandeep, a civil engineer from Panjab Engineering College, had the sole goal of making it to the IAS. "I dedicated myself to preparing for the civil services and failure at earlier attempts made me stronger to prepare for the examinations," she says. Her dream is to work against female foeticide which is a big problem in Punjab. Meanwhile, in a congratulatory message, Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal complimented Sandeep Kaur and her family members, saying she had done the state proud by making it to the IAS despite her economically poor family background. Prof. Sultan Akthar passed away on 19th April

Prof. Sultan Akthar passed away on 19th April, 2010. He was one of the legends in spreading Applied Psychology throughout India. Very few know about his affiliation with one football club in Kolkata. I have noticed his keen interest in sports specially football. Once I asked him. He smiled and told me his nostalgia about Mohomeddan sporting club of Kolkata. Once, he played in this club. Watching my avoidance to attend conferences, once he patted me and encouraged to attend all the conferences. He loved me as his own son. He was just like a father figure of IAAP. Despite his serious illness, he attended the conferences and executive meetings taking hectic pains of the rail and road journey. He was a role model of every Indian Psychologist. Structural Equation Model

Image
By reading several articles on web site, I am trying to explain the SEM here: ALARM Researchers should not design a complex experiment with too many variables when the knowledge of the subject matter is not well-understood. SEM is built upon a measurement model and a structural model. MEASUREMENT MODEL 1. Error reduction : Using reliability techniques like Cronbach's alpha 2. Determining latent trait : Using factor analysis 3. Predicting : Using regression techniques Source: http://www.creative-wisdom.com/teaching/WBI/SEM.shtml In the above figure, latent trait (the ellipse) has been extracted through the factor analysis of observed variables (rectangles). Observed variable is affected by errors (circles). STRUCTURAL MODEL It can be understood through input-throughput and output relationship following definite path. In other words, input structure predicted throughput and throughput predicted output. Figure source: http://www.creative-wisdom.com/teaching/WBI/SEM.shtml Source: htt...

Coincidence

This happened in RKM, Rahara. Swami Punyananda maharaj, founder of RKM, Rahara and disciple of Brahamananda maharaj, disciple of Sri Ramakrishnadev suffered from Cancer. During the last moment, his student, Swami Nityanadamaharaj asked him " Swamiji, who are around you now ? " . Swamiji recalled names of all the disciples of Sri Ramakrishnadev including Sri Ramakrishnadev, Swami Vivekananda and Maa Sarada. Then he asked for water and left us forever. On that day, I was in RKM., Rahara. Same incident happened in case of Swami Vivekananda. Sister Nivedita asked same question to Swamiji and Swamiji replied the same.
