Music therapy for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

18th April, 2009 Negative intrusive thoughts One theory of OCD is fighting against negative intrusive thoughts. Today, one patient of 37 years having preference to Rabindrasangeet is asked to sing a song. She has started singing " Aloker ei jharnadharay dhuiye dao". She has said that most frequently she sings this song. After analysis of the song, it appears that patient is trying to come out from the negative intrusive thought that she is dirty. This poor self concept is conditioned with faulty superstitions maintained by her mother during her first statge of menstruation. Patient is deconditioned with the faulty reinforcements using that Rabindrasangeet. The result is very interesting. Yesterday, patinet takes more than 10 hours in toilet, today, she takes 2 and half hours. ================================================================================= 28th July, 2008 Response prevention is the best treatment of OCD to dirt.
