My Sir Passed Away

Professor Amitava Chatterjee, M.Sc. (Cal), Ph.D. (IISc, Bangalore) was awarded Senior Fulbright Visiting Fellowship and was associated with Institute for Social research, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During his stay at Michigan he visited many Academic Institutions and Universities in USA and during his return journey he visited several universities in UK. After completing his post-graduate course in Psychology from Calcutta University, Professor Chatterjee joined Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore on a Govt. of India scholarship and completed his Ph.D. degree. After that he joined Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur as a teacher and retired from service as a Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences. He was pioneer in introducing Human Resource Development Course at IIT. He became sectional president of the Psychology and Behavioural sciences section of the Indian Science Congress in platinum Jubilee Session, 1988. Performing Arts Therapy

The Telegraph, 22nd Feb., 2009 Heal with song & dance A STAFF REPORTER Rabindra Bharati University’s BT Road campus will next month become the first institution to start a performing arts therapy course approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC). “Doctors and NGOs already use music and dance to treat those suffering from pain, stress, depression and lack of self-respect. But now we have a structured course, complete with professional training in physiotherapy and psychology, that will help them do the same job better,” said Kathak danseuse Amita Dutt, the dean of fine arts. Arpita Chatterjee, the course co-ordinator, said the UGC had sounded out the university last year for some new job-oriented courses. “We had suggested a couple of courses to them, of which performing arts therapy was selected for financial aid.” Classes will be conducted in the evening. “We will begin with a certificate course and later introduce a two-year diploma course and a three-year advanced diplom

Some are searching for high surfers of this group also. Yesterday, Inauguration was held in the senate hall of IIT. Prof Vindhya gave president torch to Next President, Prof. Arvind Sinha of IIT., Kanpur. Today, scintific program along with poster sessions are going on. I have seen many new areas where in our young psychologists are looking into. One symposium was held about accreditation issue on which area we have discussed in this group long back. Alcoholic Anonymous

"Hi, I am alcoholic", Have we ever heard of it ? Possibly not, because alcoholic patients try to alien themselves assuming that they have committed serious offense in life. Alcoholic anonymous is a support group who takes care of alcoholics through resurrection program, and provides support to their children, wives, and parents through counselling and spiritual (not religious) principles. Yesterday, in Guwahati, by the support of Mind-India, I visited resurrection programs of AA in Bonda. There I have heard of the above statement. They do not feel shy rather accepts it and pledge to the spiritual power for arresting alcoholism through 12-point programs. Today, I am very much fortunate to attend Allatin (support group of alcoholic father's kids) and parents' group at Don Bosco school. I have learnt a lot from them. Those who are coming to Guwahati, please visit Bonda resurrection centre and meet Ms. Reina at Don Bosco school on Sunday. School is near by IITG. You can
