Psychological stress management for Central Bureau of Investigation

Yesterday (28.4.08), I was honored by the CBI officers to give lecture on " Psychological Stress Management" Below is my speech. Definition of Stress There has been a considerable debate about definition of stress. Stress is often researched as stimulus, response and process. As stimulus, it is the environmental agent or stressor, as person, it is the non-specific response. And as process it is the cognitive appraisal system. Current discussion will give much emphasis on stress as process variable (Lazarus, 1966). There are two processes – primary and secondary. Primary process is person’s realization that something is at stake and secondary process is concerned with identification and availability of coping resources to deal with threat, harm or challenge. Therefore, stress is not as the cause rather is embedded in our cognitive appraisal system. This definition gives this notion as stress is not always unpleasant. Origin of Indian Mental health service

Dear Dr. Wade Pickren Thank you for your interest in studying the origin of mental health services of India. Sorry, I am not expert to speak about this issue as I have not done any research on this area. But based on my own experience, I am trying to give you some insight. Others can contribute more. ****** Indian mental health services are developed in Guru griha (Ashram) where in younger students learn basic principles of stress adjustment by interacting with nature. These principles are: 1. Self-awareness 2. Autonomy 3. Creativity 4. Trust 5. Self evaluation And the nature is of two types : Physical and Psychological. Physical nature refers to natural surroundings like Khiti (land), aup (water), tej (energy), marut (air) and Byom (sky). All these are unbounded, multidimensional and more complex. A research

Children who are poor in school performance often lack the cognitive abilities like listening accuracy, phonological awareness, working memory, comprehension etc. Listening accuracy is the ability to discriminate acoustic sweeps. Phonological awareness is ability to distinguish parts of speech, such as syllables and phonemes presented auditorily. Working memory implies a system for the temporary holding and manipulation of information during the performance of a range of cognitive tasks. Fast ForWord Language Gateway Edition product software of Scientific Learning Corporation aims to improve above abilities through it's web based 7 training exercises. These are Block commander (BC), Old MacDonald’s Flying Farm (OM), Phoneme Identification (PI), Phonic Match (PM), Phonic Words (PW), Language Comprehension Builder (LCB), Block Commander (BC). Aim of this study was to assess criterion related validity of the said product following request from the Scientific learning corpo...

One of the earliest pioneers of a non-invasive healing therapy — vibrio acoustic therapy—Olav Skille was in Kolkata to create awareness about the treatment on Sunday. For the uninitiated, vibrio acoustics is all about treating psychological conditions with the use of music and/or sound vibrations. Skille’s approach on vibrio acoustics narrows down the approach to giving “low frequency vibrations”, music or no music. The vibrations are generated through transducers built into a bed or chair. “All you have to do is to just lie down and enjoy for 23 minutes. At the e...
