Sub: Achievement of EC member

Dear Sir,

This refers to your request to submit some of my recent contribution in Psychology.

Rabindra Bharati University’s BT Road campus will next month become the first institution to start a Performing Arts Therapy course approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) . As member of the advisory board of the said centre, I included Psychology in this course. Now the students will understand the principles of psychology in improvising performing art therapy to alleviate pain, and psychiatric disorders, remedial teaching etc. They will learn Introduction to psychology, Developmental psychology, Psychology in performing art, Psychopathology and psychotherapy. There is no such course in India. Teachers will teach above subjects by using music, dance and drama. Again, learning psychology by using the performing art pedagogy is innovative approach.

The other achievements are conducting several workshops, lecture programs in different Government (Department of Psychology, Statistics, Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati, National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development, Guwahati Medical College, CBWE) and Non-Government institutes (Mind India) in Guwahati to disseminate knowledge about research methodology in development of Psychological questionnaires in September and December, 2008. This training program is related to the specific project funded by the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata.

I conducted workshops in the Indian Institute of Psychometry on ‘Questionnaire Development For Psychological And Educational Researches’ and ‘Data Analysis by SPSS’ in November, 2008. Ph.D students and faculties of the department of Psychology, Applied Psychology, education of the Calcutta University, Vidyasagar University and Rabindrabharati University participated in the workshop.

With regards,

Yours Sincerely,

(Debdulal Dutta Roy)
