Profile:
Dr. Debdulal Dutta Roy is the Assistant Professor of the PsychologyResearch Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He received Ph.D. degree in Organizational Psychology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 1990. He completed Post Graduation in Psychology with specialization in Abnormal Psychology from the Department of psychology, university of Calcutta,  1982.He started schooling from the Ramakrishna Mission Boys' Home, Rahara, West Bengal. He is registered Ph.D. supervisor of the University of Calcutta. Two students received the award and four students are working under his guidance. 
     He is the Executive council member of the Indian Academy of Applied Psychology and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the  Indian Academy of Applied Psychology.  He is the division convener of the Psychological assessment of the National Academy of Psychology (NAOP). Dr. Dutta Roy  is the member of the Board of Governing Council of Insurance Bureau of india (IIB). He is the Member, Advisory Board. Performing Arts Therapy center, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata; Member,Academic Council of the Calcutta Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology,Kolkata; Member,Academic Advisory Board of Jyotirmoy School of Business from November,2010; Member of the Editorial Board of the 'Journal of Management Research in Emerging Economies'of Dr. B.C.Roy Engineering College., Durgapore; Adjunct Faculty of Business School of Amrita Vishwa vidyapeetham.
     His research interest is in measurement of psychological phenomena.  His contributions in psychological research are a) organizational diagnosis; b) increase in Cronbach’s coefficient alpha;  c) computer adaptive test validation; d) Confirmatory validation of psychological test using correspondence analysis; e) Psycho informatics; f) Psychophysics in operation research; f) Rabindrik approach in psychological counseling; g) Agro-psychological counseling. He constructed several psychological instruments a) organizational health assessment; b) Reading and writing motivation; c) Self-efficacy of agricultural farmers and d) computer aided aptitude test batteries for computer programmers.  He wrote 74 research papers published in Indian and foreign journals including US and Pakistan. He wrote 11 book chapters on various issues.  He gave more than 90 invited lectures in India and abroad. Dr. Dutta Roy is the chief editor of Psybernews, International journal. He wrote one book titled “ Principles of questionnaire development”
     Dr. Dutta Roy is the recipient of few awards for his researches – a) Young Scientist Award ' in 1988 by the Indian Science Congress Association; b) 'Best Poster Award' in 2003 and 2004 by the Indian Science Congress Association; c) 'ICQESMS 2005 Excellence award' by the Indian Congress on Quality,Environment, Energy and Safety Management Systems (ICQESMS) andCentral Board for Workers Education (CBWE) in 2005; d) 'Professor T.E. Shanmugam Award for excellence inresearch for 1999 and 2000'by the Madras Psychology Society in 2003; e) 'Best Paper Award' by the Pondicherry Psychology Association in 2003; f) 'Psychometric educational services award, 2004 by the GCC School of Creative intelligence and Research foundation trust, Vepur-Arcot, in 5th January, 2008. Recently, he presented key note address on Psycho-informatics and presented few research papers in the National Workshop on “Psycho-informatics: Model For Measuring Randomized Psychological And Educational Data” (March 11&12, 2013). This was Organized by the Indian Institute Of Psychometry in collaboration with Indian Statistical Institute, & Indian Academy Of Applied Psychology. 

    Dr. Dutta Roy conducted few workshops in Nepal and in Pakistan on Psychophysics and estimation of Cronbach's reliability coefficient. He presented research paper on self-efficacy of agricultural farmers in Bangkok, Thiland. 
Recently, Dr. Roy was invited by the Shanghai International Conference on Social Science to chair the session of Environmental Psychology.
