The late middle ages in England saw a flowering of scientific writing in the vernacular, taking English discourse in new directions and establishing new textual genres. Besides English, Latin and German were used. Usually, figures and and their illustrations were documented.
Gradually, it is moving from experiential to empirical research. Empirical research is gaining ground for its systematic presentation and objectivity. It is becoming more flourished with the advent of statistical communication in the manuscript. Statistical communication helps in understanding extent of variation and the probability. Several journals in different subjects are coming up and journal publishers feel importance of journal reviewer. Gradually, journal becomes more strategic and professional in nature. It identifies its niche market and caters service to the users of that market. Journal becomes more stream lined. One major problem occurs about the format of manuscript writing. Subject specific journals have different methods of research and ways of communicating the results. So journals maintain heterogeneity in formatting the write-ups. American Psychological Association started scientific approach in formatting the manuscript and it made several revisions. APA format is more scientific as it is free from subjectivity, user and technology friendly.
APA restricts subjective comment like interesting. It is user friendly. It does not allow more lines in the Table.
In the earlier format, APA did not restrict number of words in writing title. But now-a-days it gives special emphasis it due to easily retrieval of search engines. For search engines retrieval, it suggests some unique variable name so that it takes less time to retrieve it.
