Rabindrik Psychotherapy

The basic idea of any Psychotherapy is to control the self, to control the environment and to develop self-help skill so that individual can enjoy positive experience in life. When we study Rabindra sangeet (songs composed by Rabindranath Tagore), this self-control is observed. Here is one song:

S Self-control occurs through understanding consciousness layers. There are three layers of consciousness - Murta, Raag, and Saraswat. When one experiences saraswat layer, he does not want to make any discrimination between self and the surroundings as he finds harmony with the surroundings. Here is one song where in we find change from negative forces to positive forces. Tagore suggested this change is possible by awakening the self. These seven bi-directional forces are :
N
       Negative forces ---------------------------------------Positive forces

  • Fear                                                                       Free from fear
  • Poor knowledge                                                    Rich knowledge
  • Self-doubt                                                              Doubt less
  • Rigid                                                                     Creative
  • Own wish                                                     Wish of common people
  • Self-interest                                                  Common interest
  • Duality                                                          Non-duality
